A handsome Malibu beach house was built in 1976 for latter-day crooner Barry Manilow. Its more recent high-profile music-industry owner is singer-songwriter Pink, who picked it up about a year ago on the nosey and listed it four months later priced at $15 million. The home nearly sold shortly after Pink listed it, but the deal fell through, and this month the property returned to the open market with a price snip. The 3,606 sq. ft. modern is currently asking $13.995 million.
A somewhat stark modern — its boxy exterior exudes a certain purity — the house’s most compelling design feature is the trio of massive glass panes that define the first level of its beach-side face and drench its common area in natural light. In back, the property exterior gets fine expression as a tiled courtyard, and the one-bedroom guest house’s second-floor entrance is accessible via an outdoor switchback staircase.
On the first level, the living area is dominated by the scale of the first-floor glass, with matte-finished oak a stabilizing design influence. The home’s top floor is mainly given over to the master suite, with a slightly smaller trio of oversized panes to flood the bedroom with light; a fireplace, twin walk-in closets, and a bath with a soaking tub. There are two additional, smaller bedrooms on the upper level.
Pink has sold over 135 million records worldwide. She’s released eight studio albums; the last three reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart. She’s currently working on her ninth studio album.
