‘1883’ Fans, You Might Be Crushed After Hearing This Disappointing Episode News

Long before John Dutton (Kevin Costner) was known as one of the toughest cowboys in Paradise Valley, Montana, his great grandfather James Dutton (Tim McGraw) settled in America’s West. As season 4 of Yellowstone came to an end, fans of the hit Paramount+ drama jumped right into the show’s new prequel series 1883 to gain a little more insight into the world of John, Jamie (Wes Bentley), Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Kayce (Luke Grimes).

Since the highly anticipated premiere of 1883 on December 19, folks have been tuning in every Sunday for new episodes on Paramount+. After the first two episodes of 1883 aired on Paramount Network in a special TV event, the new show has moved over to the streamer. But recently, fans have noticed that the series skipped the week of January 2. Now, viewers will have to keep wondering what happens next because the Yellowstone prequel series 1883 is not going to release a new episode this Sunday.

When does 1883 come back?

1883 will return with a new episode on Sunday, January 30. Although there has been no official word from Paramount+ via a press release or on social media about the delay, several outlets are reporting that fans should not expect a new episode this weekend.

But maybe it isn’t all bad news. After all, season 1 of 1883 is set to have a total of 10 episodes and the show is past the halfway point with its sixth episode up next. After the latest episode titled “The Fangs of Freedom,” many were left reeling after Elsa (Isabel May) lost her great love Ennis (Eric Nelsen) during a robbery. “I loooooved this show, til the end of episode 5. It could have waited a little longer 😭💔,” one person tweeted.

So what’s ahead for Elsa? Eric hinted that fans will immediately see how she is impacted by this unthinkable heartbreak. “I think it’ll be pretty apparent right away in future episodes,” he told TV Guide. “The audience will see, so I don’t want to give anything away on that, but as you can imagine, the emotions and struggle that she went through was real for her. And so I don’t know if anyone in the world can just get over something like that quickly.”

That said, folks are also suspecting that this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Ennis. An observant fan noticed on the actor’s IMDB page that he is listed to have appeared in all 10 episode of 1883, which could mean one of two things: Ennis will be seen in flashback scenes or Ennis didn’t actually die, and he’ll be back. We’ll just have to tune in next Sunday to see if we spot him again!
